Mario's family is originally from a region of south central Italy named Abruzzo, also known as Abruzzi, which is about 50 miles east of Rome. It is bordered on the east by the Adriatic Sea and is one of the most mountainous regions of Italy, boasting 21 ski areas. Abuzzi is a picturesque area with many castles and medieval towns that seemed to have been frozen in time. Mario enjoys trips back to Abruzzo and taking photos.
